Korg Switch Gadget

Just before all this quarrantine business, my wife and I got a Nintendo Switch. I played my heart out of Super Smash Brothers and she played a good bit of Zelda. I'd highly recommend it during these socially distant times.

Anyway, the reason for this post is Korg has released a game for the Switch called Korg Gadget. I can't say it's the snappiest name but, currently, it's on sale for about $30.

So far, I'd highly highly recommend it. The idea is that there are about 15 synthesizers and drum machines that can be utilized to make songs. And they aren't just dinky little presets, they feel like full synths because you can modify each of the sounds and qualities. They all come loaded with presets too.

You have a standard DAW setup, I'm not sure of the name for it but it's a keyboard in its side, on which to place notes.

The controllers are so intuitive, I was able to write out a couple different tunes in no time.

It has some online and multiplayer capabilities too which I have yet to try though it sounds fun. When created a new song, you can apply certain restrictions to the sounds (types of synths, tempo, etc.) and you can also set a time limit. I like the potential. If only I knew mildly musical people to play with.

Maybe that's the draw of the online play...

Anyway, yes, this is an inspirationally good application. So much so that it makes me want to build up my resume to get a job at Korg.

All I gotta learn is C++, signal processing, plugins...well, what else do I have to do right now?

Take care, everyone, and stay safe!
