Using my Keys and Beats together!

So since I got my Volca Beats back, I've been trying to use them more and, more importantly, use them with my Volca Keys. I've got a couple tracks to share. This kinda reminds me of something from the Tron Legacy soundtrack, or, maybe, it's reminiscent of the Tron Legacy soundtrack? I'm not sure of the phrasing. I'm not trying to say that this is better than Daft Punk or anything, you know? Tron Like With a Drum This one, is a more successful attempt at using my Volca Keys and Volca Beats together. In fact, I think this might be my favorite yet! I wasn't quite sure what to call it, nor was my wife, hence Not Sure What To Call It Whatcha think?

SwedISH House Mafia

You know how bands can have a really distinctive sound? Where you can sorta hear one of their songs in the background and be able to pick them up? Green Day, for example. It's a combination of the guitar and, more so, the singer's voice. Techno, from my experience is totally like that. Draft Punk ,  Aphex Twin , and Swedish House Mafia  have always had a distinctive sound. With these new Volca devices of mine, I've been having some fun stumbling upon sounds that are reminiscent of those DJ's. This little riff I came up with reminded me of Swedish House Mafia so I called it SwedISH House Mafia . Eh? Eh?

Indie Movie Ambient

I'm trying to shake up my sounds between the snippets I upload. This bit reminded my wife and I of something we'd hear in an indie movie:  Indie Movie Ambient A little hipster sounding for our tastes but kinda neat to play with none-the-less. What do you think? In other news, though, tomorrow, I'm getting my Volca Beats back from this guy in Chicago. He was fixing some of the lights and upgrading it. I'll make a blog post about that as soon as I get my hands on it. I'm terribly excited though.

Volca Keys jams

So I've been playing with my Volca Keys, per the uzh, and I've recorded some pretty cool jams. What do you think of them? Besson Sci-fi Loading Music  - With this beat, I was getting a kind of Fifth Element vibe but I didn't want quite a direct comparison so I abstracted it a little and called it Besson. Skipping Meditation Stones  - I'm a sucker for rounder sounding electronic tones. They're easy on the ears and if I play with the feedback, the sounds can sound like stone dropping in water.

90's D'Agostino-y techno

So today I was experimenting with the LFO settings on the Volca Keys. In fact, I think I'll try to write a separate post about what that means, tonight. But, for the time being, I came up with this kinda catchy electronica melody. I was trying to think of what it reminded me of and then it hit me with full 90's nostalgic force: Gigi D'Agostino - L'Amour Toujours I can't decide what part I think is the funniest, the combination of that type of facial hair, the goggle-y glasses, or the scooter... It's catchy though, isn't it? Anywho, mine isn't quite as catchy yet, it still needs some drums but that'll come soon. I present to you:  D'Agostino-y Thanks for reading and listening!

Continue my Korg Volca Keys adventure

Man, these Volca devices sure are fun. They're just so easy to mess around and come up with something cool. Although, I do feel like I keep coming up with similar sounds...I'll have to think about it. I was playing with the Volca Keys this evening and I can up with two pretty distinct patterns. The first, I called  Mystic Bubbles . I played with the reverberation mostly to get the effects. I thought it was kinda relaxing. The second, Glow Stick Synth  is kinda clubby albeit repetitive but I liked how I was able to adjust the one setting, I think it was the LFO, to give it the sound of a base drum. I think it do the song well to give it some more drums and maybe like phase it in and out. Thanks for listening!
